Baseball Recap: Seventy-First Takes a Loss

Seventy-First was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They came up short against the Lumberton Pirates, falling 21-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-1 back in March.

Seventy-First saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cory Bush, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.

Seventy-First's defeat dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Lumberton, their victory bumped their record up to 12-4.

Looking ahead, Seventy-First will head out on the road to face off against Purnell Swett at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rams have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season. As for Lumberton, they will be playing at home against Douglas Byrd at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Pirates are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
