Basketball Game Preview: Portland Highlanders vs. East Granby Crusaders

The Portland Highlanders will square off against the East Granby Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Portland is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.

Portland is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Old Saybrook on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Portland came up short against Old Saybrook, falling 54-30. The Highlanders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-11.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Kelsey Desmarais, who posted 12 points and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Morganne Pineda, who earned eight points.

East Granby has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 35-32 heartbreaker at the hands of CREC [Computer Science and Engineering/Academy].

East Granby's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Portland, their loss dropped their record down to 2-15.
