Recap: Martin County Tigers vs. Centennial Eagles
The Martin County Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Centennial at home and fell 65-32. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Martin County has scored all season.
Becca Witt and Cameron Slate certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Witt scored seven points, while Slate scored 12 points along with eight rebounds.
Centennial's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jailyn Williams, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 18 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Williams has scored at least a third of Centennial's points. Jakenzye McBride was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with nine assists.
Martin County has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-7 record this season. As for Centennial, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Martin County won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Viera at 6:30 p.m. on January 24th. Viera is on a four-game streak of home losses, Martin County a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. As for Centennial, they will head out on the road to take on Palm Bay at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Palm Bay is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
