Baseball Game Preview: Canton Bulldogs vs. Sharon Eagles

The Canton Bulldogs will venture away from home to square off against the Sharon Eagles at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Canton took an 11-run defeat the last time they faced off against Taunton, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bulldogs' pitcher stepped up to hand the Tigers a 2-0 shutout on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.

The result came thanks to Teddy Shuman's shutout, as he gave up just four hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Canton is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 2-3 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Canton saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Shane Kelleher, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. That's the most hits Kelleher has posted since back in May of 2025. JT Norton also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Meanwhile, Sharon won against Oliver Ames on Wednesday with four runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Eagles narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Dover-Sherborn 4-2.

The win got Canton back to even at 4-4. As for Sharon, the victory also got them back to even at 4-4.

Canton came out on top in a nail-biter against Sharon in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, sneaking past 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
