The Riverside Prep Silver Knights will venture away from home to face off against the Oxford Academy Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Riverside Prep is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.
On Thursday, Riverside Prep was able to grind out a solid victory over Excelsior Charter, taking the game 12-9.
Bree Garcia made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed six innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Riverside Prep got a massive performance out of Meeka Martinez, who went 2-for-4 with four runs and two stolen bases. Isabelle Obregon was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run.
Riverside Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 15 consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Oxford Academy's offense. They lost 10-0 to Cerritos on Friday. The match marked the first time this season in which the Patriots were not able to get on the board.
Riverside Prep pushed their record up to 14-9 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Oxford Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 18-8.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Riverside Prep hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .381. However, it's not like Oxford Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .362. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Riverside Prep came up short against Oxford Academy in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 5-2. Can the Silver Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
