While Bend didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Lebanon Warriors  a   5-0 shutout  on Thursday. Winning may never get old, but the Lava Bears sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
 Cash Hattenhauer made a splash while hitting and pitching. He  didn't allow a single  earned run and  allowed only two  hits while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Hattenhauer was also big at the plate,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Cole Cooper, who  went 1-for-3 with one  stolen base, one  double,  and one  RBI. That  double marked the first that  he  hit this season. Another player making a difference was  Lewis Knapp, who  scored two  runs while  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances.
Bend's record is now 7-1. As for Lebanon,  they are  on  a  three-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 4-3.
 Coming up, Bend is taking a road trip to  face off against North Medford  at 1:00  p.m.  on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few  runs on average (the Lava Bears 4, the Black Tornado 3.5) so any  runs scored will be well earned. As for Lebanon, they will look to defend their home field  on Monday against Estacada  at 5:00  p.m.
