Baseball Recap: Garces Memorial Comes Up Short

Garces Memorial had lost seven straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 9-10 to make it eight. They fell just short of the Frontier Titans by a score of 11-10. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Rams of the 8-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

D'Angelo Flynn put in work no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and seven unearned) runs off five hits. He has become a key player for Garces Memorial: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-9 otherwise. Flynn was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Gavin Williams was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Banducci, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run.

As for Frontier, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games.

On Frontier's side, Zack Rangel looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Rangel has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Landon McDonald was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Robert Salazar, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.

While Garces Memorial had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
