Softball Game Preview: Fruitland Grizzlies vs. Nampa Christian Trojans

Fruitland is 1-7 against Nampa Christian since March of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Grizzlies will welcome the Trojans at 11:00 a.m. Fruitland has given up an average of 12.9 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Fruitland lost 19-6 to McCall-Donnelly on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Nampa Christian faced Parma in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Trojans fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 6-4. The Trojans' defeat signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.

Peyton Shook was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Shook wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Addison Gray, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Nampa Christian's loss dropped their record down to 11-2. As for Fruitland, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11.
