Recap: Mountain View Bruins vs. Layton Christian Academy Eagles
On Tuesday, the Mountain View Bruins faced the Layton Christian Academy Eagles in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Mountain View fell 67-58 to Layton Christian Academy. Mountain View's loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Mountain View's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Conner Fairbanks, who scored 26 points. That was a full 44.8% of Mountain View's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Simeon Suguturaga was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Mountain View's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-6. As for Layton Christian Academy, the victory was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-2.
Mountain View will head out on the road to square off against Payson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Layton Christian Academy, they will be playing at home against Provo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Provo will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Utah Rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while Layton Christian Academy is ranked fifth).
