League recap: Kirkland dominating on the mound for West Side

West Side's Austin Kirkland was the best pitcher in 1A Region 2 South this week. Over the past week, he had one win and nine Ks.

The Eagles outpaced the rest of the league this week, as their three total wins led the league. West Side beat Concord 7-0, the Pirates 7-0 and Bradford 9-2.

The Eagles had trouble finding a groove at the plate as a team this week, racking up a league-leading 43 strikeouts. West Side has struggled at the plate this season, leading the league with 67 strikeouts.

The Eagles' Tyler Cowley racked up four RBIs this week, more than any other hitter. He now stands at seven RBIs on the season, which puts him first in the league.



West Side's Kirkland struck out nine the Eagles hitters en route to a 9-2 victory on March 14.
