Recap: Discovery Christian vs. Sylva Bay Academy Saints
This season hasn't been kind to Discovery Christian, who are still winless after their seventh game. They were outmatched by Sylva Bay Academy at home and fell 55-15. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Discovery Christian has scored all season.
Sylva Bay Academy's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Dalton Blakeney, who scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Blakeney has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Brody Boyd, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Discovery Christian's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-7. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.7 points per game. As for Sylva Bay Academy, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Discovery Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Laurel Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sylva Bay Academy, they will be playing at home against Lamar Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lamar Christian is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
