Basketball Recap: Willapa Valley Extends Winning Streak to Three

Willapa Valley had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 45-27 victory over the Columbia Adventist Academy Kodiaks. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 48-21 back in December of 2024.

Willapa Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tylar Keeton led the charge by dropping a double-double on 12 points and 12 boards. Rilyn Channell was another key player, putting up four points along with ten rebounds and four steals.

Willapa Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Willapa Valley now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Columbia Adventist Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Willapa Valley will venture away from home to take on Mary M. Knight at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Columbia Adventist Academy, they will head out to square off against Washington School for the Deaf at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
