Baseball Recap: East Ridge Comes Up Short

East Ridge was the 3-3 winner over Montverde Academy when they last played one another back in March of 2017, but their luck changed this time around. The East Ridge Knights took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Montverde Academy Eagles on Wednesday.

East Ridge got a good showing from Cale Keene, who didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Keene also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because East Ridge is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-5 otherwise.

At the plate, East Ridge saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaylen Benson, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave Benson a new career-high in hits.

East Ridge's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Montverde Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4.

East Ridge has already played their next game, a 7-2 defeat against Lake Minneola on the 13th. As for Montverde Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 14-1 victory against Eustis on the 12th.
