Softball Recap: Tuscarora Drops Highest Score of Season Against Rock Ridge

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tuscarora). They blew past the Rock Ridge Phoenix 18-2 on Wednesday. The victory was familiar territory for the Huskies, who have now won three games in a row.

Lily Walker tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over 4.1 innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Tuscarora got a massive performance out of Chloe Wools, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave Wools a new career-high. Paige Hahn also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Tuscarora always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rock Ridge only posted an OBP of .385.

Tuscarora pushed their record up to 6-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Rock Ridge, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tuscarora will venture away from home to challenge Millbrook at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Pioneers' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Huskies' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Rock Ridge, they will head out to face off against Loudoun Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Phoenix's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season.
