Football Recap: Twiggs County Comes Up Short

Twiggs County extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to seven on Friday, dropping them down to 0-3. They lost 39-14 to the Wheeler County Bulldogs. The Cobras were not able to make up for their loss to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

As for Wheeler County, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 29.0 points this season.

Wheeler County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Alvin Ricks out in front who rushed for 127 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 7.9 yards per carry. Ricks' rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 119 rushing yards dating back to last season. Malik Madison was another key rusher, rushing for 119 yards on only seven carries.

Looking ahead, Twiggs County will face off against Josey at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Wheeler County, they will take on Atkinson County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 965 yards in their previous games.
