Basketball Recap: Harlingen's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

After a string of eight wins, Harlingen's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a 76-59 bruising from the Edinburg North Cougars. The Cardinals were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cougars earlier this season, when they won 65-56.

Edinburg North found their leader in sophomore Raul Palacios, who went 11 for 15 on his way to 30 points and three steals. Palacios' afternoon made it 18 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Roel Palacios, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 14 points.

Harlingen's defeat dropped their record down to 20-4. As for Edinburg North, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harlingen will challenge La Joya at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. La Joya is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52 points per game this season. As for Edinburg North, they will venture away from home to face off against Hanna at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Hanna's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests.
