Basketball Recap: Collin Fowler's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Monterey over Smith County

Monterey lost against Smith County back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Monterey Wildcats came up short against the Smith County Owls, falling 74-51. The Wildcats' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it five in a row.

Monterey's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Collin Fowler, who went 8 for 17 en route to 22 points and five rebounds. Those 22 points gave Fowler a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Garrett Wessels, who posted 11 points.

Monterey's record now sits at 6-18. As for Smith County, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 7-15 record.
