Softball Game Preview: Waubonsie Valley Warriors vs. Joliet Central Steelmen

The Waubonsie Valley Warriors will challenge the Joliet Central Steelmen at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Neuqua Valley hit Waubonsie Valley with a four-run third inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Warriors fell 8-4 to the Wildcats.

Waubonsie Valley saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sammy Wiertelak, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That double marked the first that Wiertelak has hit this season. Another was Mila Haskins, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Joliet Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They came up short against Bolingbrook, falling 15-2.

Waubonsie Valley has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Joliet Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-18.

Waubonsie Valley took their win against Joliet Central in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-0 score. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Steelmen turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
