Basketball Recap: Riverton Takes a Loss

Riverton lost against Kelly Walsh back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Riverton Wolverines took a hard 59-43 fall against the Kelly Walsh Trojans. The Wolverines have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Riverton lost, don't look at Malachi Smith. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Smith is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last five games he's played. Ryan Cox was another key player, putting up ten points and eight boards.

Mason Eager had a dynamite game for Kelly Walsh, shooting 60% from beyond the arc en route to 22 points and six rebounds. Eager continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Logan Atnip, who posted eight points.

Riverton's defeat dropped their record down to 6-17. As for Kelly Walsh, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-9.

Riverton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 62-48 loss against Green River on the 7th. As for Kelly Walsh, they have also already played their next contest, a 56-53 win against Star Valley on the 7th.
