Softball Recap: Hanover Takes a Loss

Hanover was the 11-6 winner over Cosby when they last played one another back in May of 2025, but their luck changed this time around. The Hawks fell 8-4 to the Titans on Monday.

Hanover got a good showing from Lily Hockensmith, who pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hockensmith has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Hanover saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lucy Fleisher, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base marked the first that Fleisher has snagged this season. Another was Marley Winder, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Hanover's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Cosby, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-3-1.

Looking ahead, Hanover will welcome Henrico at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cosby, they are taking a road trip to take on Clover Hill at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Titans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cavaliers have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
