Football Recap: Buchanan Takes a Loss

Buchanan dropped to 4-3 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They lost 29-7 to the Clovis West Golden Eagles. The Bears were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Golden Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Buchanan lost, don't look at Gannon Sever. Despite the final result, he rushed for 115 yards and one score.

As for Clovis West, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.0 points over those games.

Clovis West's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jamar (JJ) Howard, who threw for 174 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in one rushing score. Howard has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last three times he's played.

Buchanan didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 30-20 victory against Clovis North on the 17th. As for Clovis West, they have also already played their next matchup, a 46-39 defeat against Central East on the 16th.
