Merritt Island and Heritage are an even 2-2-2 against one another since January of 2016, but likely not for long. The two teams will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Merritt Island is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 4.5 goals per game this season.

On Monday, Merritt Island earned a 3-1 win over Satellite. Given Merritt Island's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Satellite are ranked 114th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 0-0 at halftime, Heritage was not quite Viera's equal in the second half on Monday. They fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 1-0. Heritage haven't had much luck with Viera recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Heritage's loss dropped their record down to 3-3-4. As for Merritt Island, their victory bumped their record up to 6-0.

Merritt Island couldn't quite get it done against Heritage in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
