After a string of three wins, El Capitan's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of the Helix Highlanders by a score of 9-8. El Capitan was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Helix apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.
El Capitan got a big performance out of Alanna Christiaens, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Kylee Frazier, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.
On Helix's side, Kamilah Jones was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Ta'Tiannah Wright, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
El Capitan now has a losing record at 6-7-4. As for Helix, their win bumped their record up to 7-8.
El Capitan will be playing in front of their home fans against Grossmont at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Helix, they will head out on the road to square off against Valhalla at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Helix is facing Valhalla at the right time seeing as Valhalla is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
