Softball Game Preview: Legacy Charter Eagles vs. First Academy Eagles

We've got a battle between Eagles coming up. Legacy Charter is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.2 runs per game this season.

Legacy Charter took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Father Lopez with a sharp 16-1 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Maci Guthrie and Lindsay Donahey made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Guthrie pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Donahey tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave her a new career-low. At the plate, Guthrie scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances, while Donahey scored two runs while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances. Guthrie also put up a hit, which was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Caitlyn Pester was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs. Caroline Hardy was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Meanwhile, First Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against West Port, falling 12-2.

Legacy Charter's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for First Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
