Deer River had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34.6 points) and they went ahead and made it eight on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the East Central Eagles with a sharp 77-57 victory. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while the Eagles are ranked 210th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Deer River's win bumped their record up to 20-1. As for East Central, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Deer River will head out to face off against Greenway at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Greenway is on a five-game streak of home wins, Deer River a 18-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for East Central, they will take on Ogilvie at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. East Central is facing Ogilvie at the right time seeing as Ogilvie is stuck on a 20-game losing streak.
