Evangel Christian was handed a heart-breaking two-run  defeat in their last  match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Macon-East Montgomery Academy  on Friday. The Lightning put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp  12-2 victory. Considering the Lightning have won 11 contests by more than six  runs this season, Friday's  blowout was nothing new.
 Ella Ruth Smith was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She  tossed three innings while giving up just one earned  (and one unearned) run off   four  hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Raylee Evans, who  scored two  runs and  stole three bases while going 3-for-3. Those  three  stolen bases gave  her a new career-high.  Gracelynn Shackelford was another key player,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
 Evangel Christian  hit smart and  finished the game with only one  strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters  in ten consecutive  games.
The  win snapped Evangel Christian's losing streak at three games  and leaves them with a 15-8 record. As for Macon-East Montgomery Academy, they have  been struggling recently as they've  lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record  this season.
 Evangel Christian will be playing at home against Bessemer Academy  at 4:00  p.m.  on Monday. The Rebels will roll in looking for their  sixth straight  victory, something the Lightning surely won't give up without a fight. Macon-East Montgomery Academy will be paying especially close attention to Evangel Christian's  contest: after Evangel Christian faces off against Wiregrass, they'll take on Macon-East Montgomery Academy again  at 4:00  p.m.  on  the 22nd.
