Baseball Recap: Central Catholic Raiders vs. Fairfield Falcons
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Central Catholic had no problem doing just that on Friday. They skirted past the Fairfield Falcons 3-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Raiders.
Marcus Davenport spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Central Catholic let Broden Thomas and Caine Walker run wild. Thomas went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Walker went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs. That's the most runs Walker has posted since back in April.
Central Catholic's record now sits at 20-10. As for Fairfield, their loss dropped their record down to 21-9.
