Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Ryleigh Weaver and Kira Myers Lead Cicero Prep Academy to Victory

Cicero Prep Academy lost to Ray back in January of 2022, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The stars were shining brightly for the Cicero Prep Academy Centurions in a 44-28 win over the Ray Bearcats. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Centurions.

Cicero Prep Academy was led to victory by Kira Myers and Ryleigh Weaver. Myers almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine steals, while Weaver almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine steals. Weaver is becoming a predictor of Cicero Prep Academy's success: when she posts at least three steals the team is 3-1 (and 3-5 when she doesn't). Catherine Johnson was another key player, putting up six points and seven rebounds.

Cicero Prep Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 6-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.3 points per game. As for Ray, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-8.

Cicero Prep Academy and Ray's offenses will be put to the test in their next games. Cicero Prep Academy and Hayden (who has only given up 18.4 points per game) will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
