Baseball Game Preview: Erie Tigers vs. Fairview Knights

The Erie Tigers will face off against the Fairview Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Erie will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Erie made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Monarch, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Tigers never let the Coyotes get on the board and left with a 7-0 win on Tuesday. Considering the Tigers have won five contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Maddox Burnett made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI.

In other batting news, Taylor McMaster was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ronin Ward, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, Fairview was able to grind out a solid victory over Silver Creek on Tuesday, taking the game 5-0.

The team relied heavily on Cooper Neumann, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Fairview is undefeated when Neumann posts two or more runs, but 0-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Espiritu-Niswonger, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Erie's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Fairview, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-4.
