Basketball Game Preview: Shelby Valley Wildcats vs. Pikeville Panthers

Shelby Valley is 0-10 against Pikeville since January of 2022 but things could change on Tuesday. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Wildcats face off against the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Pikeville will be up against a hot Shelby Valley squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. Shelby Valley came out on top against Owsley County by a score of 67-58 on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Pikeville didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Huntington Expression Prep on Saturday, but they still walked away with a 63-57 victory. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Kings recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Pikeville pushed their record up to 12-8-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points over those games. As for Shelby Valley, their win bumped their record up to 13-9.

Shelby Valley might still be hurting after the 66-41 loss they got from Pikeville in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can Shelby Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
