Baseball Recap: Mountlake Terrace Wins Going Away Against Meadowdale

Mountlake Terrace barely beat Meadowdale the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hawks were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Mavericks on Wednesday. Considering the Hawks have won three contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Layton Rongholt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits. Mountlake Terrace is 4-1 when Rongholt allows three or fewer earned runs, but 0-4 otherwise.

At the plate, Cian Harney was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Nolan Valdivia, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Mountlake Terrace's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Meadowdale, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Mountlake Terrace will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Mavericks: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
