Volleyball Recap: Butternut Midgets vs. Mercer Tigers
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mellen, Butternut was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the Mercer Tigers by a score of 3-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-0 two weeks ago.
Butternut had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 11-25, 25-20, 25-14, 25-21.
Alli Lueloff paced Butternut's offense, picking up 11 kills. Lueloff got some help from Lizzie Pritzl and her 32 assists. Gianna Nahring controlled things from the service line, finishing with six aces.
Mercer lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ryley Saarnio, who had seven digs and two aces. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Powers, who had six kills and four digs.
