Game recap: A 19-point big quarter carries Oxford to victory over Lake Cormorant

A big 19-point second quarter helped carry Oxford (Miss.) to a 26-0 victory over Lake Cormorant (Miss.) on Saturday.

The Chargers scored two touchdowns on passing plays during the quarter, boosted by one reception by Joey Walden.

After taking the lead on a field goal by Cody Mills in the second quarter, Oxford led 19-0 at the half.

OHS expanded its lead to 26 points entering the fourth quarter. The Chargers' lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown run by Nick Brown.



With the win Oxford extended its winning streak to seven games. OHS defeated the Trojans 29-17 last week.

The Chargers' standout player in the win was Parker Adamson. The senior quarterback threw two touchdowns.

Oxford went into the matchup giving up only 16.3 points per game.

Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 42-35 win for OHS.

The loss comes after Lake Cormorant defeated Center Hill 30-24 last week.

Oxford (7-0) will play a 5A Region 1 game against Hernando next week, while Lake Cormorant (4-3) will take on New Hope also in a 5A Region 1 game.
