East Wake Academy and Falls Lake are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2018, but likely not for long. The Eagles will challenge the Firebirds at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. East Wake Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.1 runs per game this season.

East Wake Academy's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against NCSSM: Durham as they made off with a 12-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Unicorns: they've now won seven in a row.

Lane Collier was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Collier was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Robbie Johnston, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Jordan Driver was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Falls Lake won against Wake Prep Academy on Friday with three runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Firebirds beat Franklin Academy by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 3-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Firebirds.

East Wake Academy's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Falls Lake, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

East Wake Academy beat Falls Lake 3-0 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Firebirds turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
