Baseball Recap: West Point Takes a Loss

Shadow Ridge hit West Point with a ten-run third inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Dragons lost 17-7 to the Stallions. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Stallions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-3 on Tuesday.

Kenyer Martinez made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run and five RBI. He is becoming a predictor of West Point's success: when he posts at least one home run the team is 4-1 (and 4-5 when he doesn't).

This is the second loss in a row for West Point and nudges their season record down to 8-6. As for Shadow Ridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Point will welcome Skyline at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. As for Shadow Ridge, they will be playing at home against O'Connor at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Stallions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season.
