Basketball Recap: Balboa Buccaneers vs. Washington Eagles
Balboa lost against Washington back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Balboa Buccaneers lost 68-42 to the Washington Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Buccaneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1097th, while the Eagles are ranked 439th).

Alan Ly and Lorenzo Manna certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Ly posted nine points and three blocks, while Manna earned six points in addition to six boards and three blocks. Those three blocks gave Ly a new career-high. Donovan DeSousa was another key player, putting up six points and seven rebounds.
Korey Abantao continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Washington, going 8 for 17 on his way to 20 points along with six steals and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Johnson Chang, who went 5 of 8 en route to 12 points.
Balboa has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season. As for Washington, they pushed their record up to 12-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.
