Pickens Academy had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Pickens County on Tuesday. The Pirates put the hurt on the Tornadoes with a sharp 13-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won eight matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

The win was the fourth in a row for Pickens Academy, bringing their record up to 11-9. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Pickens County, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Pickens Academy beat the Tornadoes by a score of 26-0 on Thursday.
