With a playoff win on the line, McKinney North rose to the challenge on Thursday. They came out on top against the Lake Belton Broncos by a score of 4-1. Winning may never get old, but the Bulldogs sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.

Brooks Nelson made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Nelson was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

Nelson wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brady Shelton, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

McKinney North's victory bumped their record up to 16-12-1. As for Lake Belton, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 26-6-2 record.

McKinney North will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Broncos: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
