Baseball Recap: Weld Central Comes Up Short

Weld Central started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Resurrection Christian. They fell 5-1 to the Cougars on Wednesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Rebels in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost three in a row.

Weld Central's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Resurrection Christian, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-4.

Looking ahead, Weld Central will square off against Liberty Common at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.31 runs per game on average), something the Rebels will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Resurrection Christian, they will be playing at home against Strasburg at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Indians have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
