Softball Recap: West Texas' Win Ends Six-Game Losing Streak on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Childress, West Texas was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 23-2 margin over the Highland Park Hornets. Considering the Comanches have won three games by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Haven Lee was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with six RBI, four runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mackenzie Elliott, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Chloe Jett also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

West Texas was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .522. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Highland Park only posted a batting average of .312.

West Texas' victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-3. As for Highland Park, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12-1.

Looking ahead, West Texas will welcome Booker at 4:00 p.m. on the 21st. As for Highland Park, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 21-14 win against Claude on the 20th.
