Basketball Recap: Augusta Prep Continues Road Dominance on Tuesday

Augusta Prep hadn't done well against Gatewood recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Cavaliers put the hurt on the Gators with a sharp 66-42 win. With that victory, the Cavaliers brought their scoring average up to 53 points per game.

Augusta Prep got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Nathan Shepherd out in front who posted 15 points. Another player making a difference was Marrus Sweeney, who put up 11 points.

Several Gators players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cruz Chapman, who had 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lake Ferman, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Augusta Prep pushed their record up to 1-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.8 points over those games. As for Gatewood, their record now sits at 1-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Augusta Prep will host Dominion Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Gatewood, they will be playing at home against Piedmont Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
