Baseball Game Preview: Marianapolis Prep Golden Knights vs. Noble & Greenough Bulldogs

The Marianapolis Prep Golden Knights will head out to take on the Noble & Greenough Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Noble & Greenough took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Marianapolis Prep, who comes in off a win.

Marianapolis Prep will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Friday, then bounced right back against Varsity Opponent on Wednesday. The Golden Knights were the clear victors by a 16-9 margin over Varsity Opponent. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Golden Knights' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Chase Eggen was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Chase Morin, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Marianapolis Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .620. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Noble & Greenough's offense. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Belmont Hill on Wednesday. The loss continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their meetings with the Sextants: they've now lost three in a row.

Noble & Greenough saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emilio Manz, who went 1-for-3 with one double. Luke Maltacea also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Marianapolis Prep's victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-7. As for Noble & Greenough, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-3.

Marianapolis Prep took their win against Noble & Greenough in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 14-4 score. Do the Golden Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
