The Riverdale Raiders will challenge the Bonita Springs Bullsharks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Riverdale is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Riverdale managed to slip by Island Coast the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Riverdale lost 14-3 to Island Coast on Friday. The Raiders' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Brycen Childers was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. Carlos Ayala also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bonita Springs). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Lehigh a 21-0 shutout on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Bullsharks sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Carter Kalina was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Kalina was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI.
In other batting news, Landon Ide was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Angel Moreno, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Bonita Springs always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .718. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Bonita Springs' win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 6.25 runs across that stretch. As for Riverdale, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.
Both Riverdale and Bonita Springs just can't seem to miss. Riverdale has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.1 hits per game. However, it's not like Bonita Springs struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance. Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
