Softball Game Preview: Morton Potters vs. Dunlap Eagles

Morton hasn't had much luck against Dunlap recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Potters will take on the Eagles at 4:30 p.m.

Morton is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Thursday. They lost 9-3 to Washington.

Meanwhile, Dunlap faced Metamora in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Eagles had just enough and edged out the Redbirds 4-3. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Redbirds recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Sutton Centoni spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 18 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Rachel Mies was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Dunlap's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 25-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Morton, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-25.

Morton might still be hurting after the 9-0 loss they got from Dunlap in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Potters avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
