Football Recap: Bridgeport Comes Up Short

Bridgeport had lost five straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-4 to make it six. They took a 40-23 bruising from the Conotton Valley Rockets. If the Bulldogs were looking for revenge after losing 41-6 to the Rockets when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

When it comes to explaining why Bridgeport lost, don't look at Jaki Threet. Despite the final result, he rushed for 210 yards and three scores while picking up 8.4 yards per carry, and also threw for 120 yards on 11 of 20 attempts. Threet's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 130 rushing yards.

As for Conotton Valley, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.0 points over those games.

Conotton Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gavin Haney, who rushed for 133 yards and one touchdown, and also picked up 54 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Kamden Wright was another key player, gaining 150 total yards and two touchdowns.

Bridgeport didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 43-6 victory against Valley on the 3rd. As for Conotton Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 54-34 win against Frontier on the 3rd.
