Basketball Game Preview: Bloomington Central Catholic Saints vs. Teutopolis Wooden Shoes

The Bloomington Central Catholic Saints will take on the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Teutopolis will be up against a hot Bloomington Central Catholic squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. Bloomington Central Catholic blew past Prairie Central 76-42 on Monday. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 46-17.

Bloomington Central Catholic's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Karissa Cook, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards. Those 11 rebounds gave Cook a new career-high. Kate Stolfa was another key player, going 9 of 12 on her way to 19 points.

Bloomington Central Catholic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in ten consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Teutopolis posted their biggest victory since January 16th on Thursday. They breezed by Altamont to the tune of 61-31. Given the Wooden Shoes' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 46th, while the Indians are ranked 332nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bloomington Central Catholic has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for Teutopolis, their win bumped their record up to 21-8.

Bloomington Central Catholic was able to grind out a solid victory over Teutopolis when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 58-46.
