Basketball Recap: Texas Wind Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Chaya Fincher and Jai Johnson

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Texas Wind can now relate to. They fell just short of the Gloria Deo Academy Lions by a score of 30-28 on Friday. While losing is never fun, Texas Wind can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 934th, while Gloria Deo Academy is ranked 411th).

Texas Wind's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jai Johnson, who went 6 for 15 on her way to 13 points in addition to eight rebounds and six steals, and Chaya Fincher, who posted ten points. Those ten points gave Fincher a new career-high.

Texas Wind's loss dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Gloria Deo Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 17 games, which provided a nice bump to their 26-6 record this season.
