The Franklin Central Flashes will take on the McCutcheon Mavericks at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Franklin Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, Franklin Central came up short against Southport and fell 8-3. The Flashes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Olivia Starr put in work no matter where she played. She pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Mariah Brown was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Adalynn Foster, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, McCutcheon suffered their closest loss since May 27, 2025 on Friday. They fell just short of Brownsburg by a score of 6-4. The Mavericks haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
McCutcheon saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mady Jones, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Franklin Central's defeat dropped their record down to 9-8. As for McCutcheon, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Franklin Central has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.3 hits per game. However, it's not like McCutcheon struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.7 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Franklin Central beat McCutcheon 12-7 in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Will the Flashes repeat their success, or do the Mavericks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
