Basketball Game Preview: Manhattan Indians vs. Emporia Spartans

The Manhattan Indians will venture away from home to challenge the Emporia Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Manhattan is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They managed a 65-60 victory over Topeka on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Emporia waltzed into their game on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 65-43 win. The Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 22 points or more this season.

Emporia has also been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.7 points per game. As for Manhattan, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8.

Manhattan was able to grind out a solid win over Emporia when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 47-36. The rematch might be a little tougher for Manhattan since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
