Basketball Recap: Plattsburgh Triumphs

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Plattsburgh ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 60-59 victory over the Moriah Vikings. That's more bragging rights for the Hornets, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Several Vikings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Joe Pelkey, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. With that strong performance, Pelkey is now averaging an impressive 8.2 boards per game. Another player making a difference was Cooper Allen, who posted 17 points and seven rebounds.

Plattsburgh's win bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Moriah, with the defeat, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-3.

Plattsburgh has already played their next game, a 62-51 loss against Ogdensburg Free Academy on the 1st. As for Moriah, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Ticonderoga at 5:00 p.m. Moriah knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 13 contests -- so hopefully Ticonderoga likes a good challenge.
